53% of Independents disapprove of Trump’s immigration tactics, with support continuing to fall.<\/strong>
The Good News: only 37% of Americans approve of Trump’s immigration tactics according to a March study of 30,000 Americas across all 50 states by Matthew Baum with the Harvard Kennedy School<\/a>. The Bad News: 78% of Republicans still approve, yielding a 67 point gap between Republicans and Democrats for an on-going, stark difference in opinion. But the results are clear, “states with the most personal connection to immigrants have the least support for aggressive tactics,” proving that when we are connected to immigrants, we are more compassionate. Klein was prescient in understanding the political transition overtaking our country far before Trump’s re-election.
