As Democratic donors and activists, we have the passion, the numbers, and the resources to take back power in 2026. What’s been missing is a smarter strategy. That changes now.
Stop Rage Donating. Start Winning.
Let’s start with an uncomfortable truth. In the 2024 federal election cycle, $1.4 billion in Democratic donations was effectively wasted — poured into non-competitive races that were never going to flip, lost by double digits, and vanished without a trace of electoral impact. In 2020, Amy McGrath raised $94 million and lost Kentucky by 20 points. In ’22, Val Demings raised $79 million and lost Florida by 16. And in ’24, Collin Allred raised $92 million and lost Texas by 9. Cycle after cycle, the pattern repeats: big names, big money, big losses. Meanwhile, truly winnable races go underfunded and slip away by a few hundred votes.
This is not a resources problem. This is a strategy problem. And we can fix it.
For years, we as Democratic donors have been asked to follow our outrage — to send $25 to whoever was trending after the latest news cycle, to chase the long-shot win, to fund the symbolic fight. That approach felt good. It did not win.
What if you could know — before giving a single dollar — exactly which races were truly winnable, which seats could shift the balance of power, and where your money would make the most difference? That’s exactly what we built at Flip the States. Using our proprietary algorithm drawing on 15 years of district-level voting data from all 50 states, 43,000 races, and 27 distinct data points — everything from incumbency and race cost to historical trend lines and donation impact — we produce an Impact Score for every state legislative and federal congressional race in the country. We rank where we can win, not based on the candidate, but based on the data. It takes the emotion out of the equation and replaces it with something that actually works: evidence.
In 2024, our algorithm outperformed the DCCC — the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, the organization that exists solely to win House races — in identifying competitive races, targeted investment opportunities, and seats that actually flipped. This isn’t a side project. It’s a better system. And it’s available right now, when the stakes could not be higher.
Does this feel different from how you’ve thought about donating before? Good. It should. What we’re asking is harder in one sense and easier in another: trust the data, target the winnable, and watch what happens when resources actually meet opportunity.
Here’s the number that should stop you cold: Democrats need to flip just five seats to take back the House of Representatives in 2026. Five. Flip the States has already identified 11 Republican-held House districts with Impact Scores above 90 — the highest tier of winnability and structural importance. These are not wishful targets. These are races where the margins were razor-thin, where the trends are moving, and where targeted investment can tip the outcome. A smarter strategy, applied right now, could hand Democrats the House majority — and with it, a real check on the unchecked:

This movement is bigger than any single race. Flip the States is building a big tent — for everyone who believes real change requires more than outrage, more than resistance, more than showing up every four years. Taking power back means organizing year-round, in communities, in state houses, in districts the national party has written off. It means building infrastructure that wins not just this cycle but the next one, and the one after that. Because here is the hardest truth: the Democratic establishment is not going to save us.
The DNC is insolvent and consumed by infighting. The party’s campaign committees are focused on candidates who can raise money, not necessarily candidates who can win. The insiders are not rushing to adopt new strategies or new thinking. They are waiting. We cannot afford to wait with them.
Democracy does not save itself. We save it — together, with clear eyes, smart targeting, and the willingness to do this work differently. Five seats. A data-driven plan. A community built to last. The tools exist. The opportunity is real. The only question is whether we’re willing to fight to win, not just to feel like we tried.
