Post Election Expectations

by

The therapy you need through the next two days. And then…. what? We don’t know when the presidential race will be called, but we do know what to expect.

Yesterday, I went canvassing for Yadira Caraveo, a race we rank with a 98 Impact Score, a race she won in 2022 by less than 1500 votes, and a race we need to Hold to give Dems a strong shot at the US House majority. While canvassing, I met a young woman who started by saying, ‘well, I was going to vote for Trump, but I did my research and now I think I just can’t. We’ve got to protect our rights, our women’s rights. I think I’m voting for Kamala so yeah, tell me about Yadira.” We chatted for a few more minutes before she said thank you and promised she would also be voting for Caraveo. She, and at least 6 others, committed their votes to Caraveo thanks to our canvassing.

I don’t know about you but I’m always skeptical that ‘undecided’ voters exist or that late volunteering matters. If my experience with voters yesterday is any indication, it does. There’s less than 48-hrs to go and if you’re feeling anything like me, this is the therapy you need – trying to ensure every last voter votes. And we can help- just Search to find a race in your state or a Presidential Battleground state. Head to the campaign website  and click volunteer. You can make your next two days easier by helping.

What to expect post-election:

No matter how you spend the next two days, it’s time to get prepared for post-election day. The first thing we know is it won’t be over Tues. Not just for the Presidential call (likely), but for so many other races too (definitely). Last cycle, we had a dozen US House races called by two points or less, enough to determine control. All over the country in 2022, races went to recounts, including an unexpected race in CO where a Dem came just 550 votes shy of beating Lauren Boebert in a heavy red district. The close races and recounts will happen again this year and that’s exactly what Flip the States will be focused on.

For that reason, we are going to do something we haven’t done – ask you to support Flip the States directly. Post election, our nonprofit volunteer team will be full force pulling in data and crunching the numbers to get out updates to you as fast as we can about recounts that need support, races we can still win. We have always prioritized giving you the data and the means to get your donations directly to campaigns becausethat’s where your money went the farthest at the time, and we know, I know, your money matters. We are asking for your support today because although those dollars won’t change things for a campaign now, it can help support our nonprofit work, which will continue tomorrow and the next day and the next, as we work to give you the info we need to win every single race we can in 2024.

We are all ready for a decisive victory to ensure this era is over, but come Wed, the work isn’t done; it’s just in a new phase. Keep an eye on our home page for our new blog, launching tomorrow, for updates on critical recount races, the data you need on them and how to make a difference. Thank you so much for your support. Let’s WIN!
