Lauren Boebert Stealing from CO-8

by

You probably already know the name Lauren Boebert. Here in CO, she’s known for her competition with Congresswoman Majorie Taylor Green to be the most extreme and embarrassing MAGA Congresswoman thanks a constant stream of vulgar and incendiary remarks and behavior in the House.

The story of Boebert, her 2024 Democratic challenger and $1 MILLION in donations in Aug alone is the story of why Flip the States exists. Believe it or not, Boebert could be the reason why CO Congresswomen Democrat Yadiera Caraveo, in entirely different CO district, could lose her seat.

We’ll tell you the story, but here’s how to make sure that doesn’t happen >> Donate to Congresswoman Caraveo in this critical HOLD race for Democrats, where Dems must hold every seat we have now, plus pick up seats, to Flip the House in Nov.

In 2022, Boebert faced reelection in CO-3 but her heavily Republican district had almost had enough after just two years of her antics. In a shock, Boebert did win back her seat that year but by just 0.17%, barely over 500 votes in the closest win the country. This was despite CO-3 being a solid R district with a 10+ year Republican win trend. There was a real chance Boebert could lose her district in 2024 if she didn’t clean up her act and moderate. But that is not MAGA and that is not Boebert.

Rather than reform, Boebert decided to run instead this year for a different CO district, CO-4, the most conservative district in the state. An actual conservative Republican retired from this district earlier this year (saying MAGA was too extreme), leaving CO-4 open. Boebert decided it offered an easier win than competing in her own district.

Here’s the critical part. Boebert really did almost lose in 2022 in CO-3, so when a serious Democratic challenger announced her candidacy against Boebert in 2024 for CO-4, money poured in. Small dollar Democratic donors saw what they thought was an opportunity to rid Congress of the toxic Boebert and gave $1 MILLION to her Democratic challenger in Aug alone. $1 MILLION in 30 days. This was the 3rd largest amount raised by ANY Democrat running for the House. Here’s the problem, the facts:

  • CO-4 is the most conservative district in CO, far more than Boebert’s current CO-3, with an average 26-point Republican win margin over the last 10 years in CO-4.
  • Boebert has raised almost $4 Million for the race because MAGA loves her, giving her a massive money lead even with this new money coming in against her.
  • We rate CO-4 with a 59 Impact Score for a reason. No matter how good the Democratic challenger is, the Republican, any Republican, will win this district. As comparison, we rate Boebert’s current CO-3 a 81 Impact Score. That’s a 22-point difference in Boebert’s favor because she switched districts.
  • No matter how much money comes in for the Democrat in this race, the facts tell us the truth: CO-4’s make up of voters and trend tells us this race won’t be close. Boebert will win. The question is by how much.

So ignore Boebert for now. CO-4 is lost and more dollars there won’t change that. But, we can impact CO-8. We agree a 50-state strategy matters for Democrats so let’s put our resources where they can make a difference to win. And that’s supporting Democrat CO Congresswoman Yadiera Caraveo.

In 2022, Dr Yadiera Caraveo, a pediatrician, won another of the closest races in the country in this newly added district to CO. C0-8 is a dead even split between registered Republicans, Democrats and Independents, and is expected to be a harbinger of Democrats’ performance across the country in 2024. Caraveo squeaked out victory in part in 2022 thanks to a third party candidate on the ballot that took votes from the Republican candidate. In 2024, no third parties are expected on the ballot, making it that much higher a hill to climb to hold this seat. Republicans recognize this and have targeted CO-8 as a vulnerable seat, even sending Speaker Mike Johnson to fundraise with Republican candidate Gabe Evans. Democrats can’t Flip the House without defending close seats, and this was one of the closest in the country. Caraveo is up right now in fundraising, but don’t underestimate. Dark money is flowing into this race. Losing this seat means that not only do we have one less woman of color representing all of us in Congress, but also one more seat we have to pick up to Flip the House.

When you make the choice of where to put your dollars, don’t chase beating Boebert. We, Democrats, won’t win in CO-4 against Boebert this cycle. We can win, Caraveo can WIN, CO-8. Put your money where it will matter to put Caraveo over the top.
